The Yonso Project, a community-based organisation, which spearheads educational development in rural areas, has built a GH¢ 20,000 library at Akrofoso in the Sekyere Afram Plains District, to help inculcate in pupils and students in the area the habit of reading.
The library is stocked with assorted books on Science, English language, Mathematics, Social Studies, Geography, Health and Literature in English.
Handing over the library at a ceremony at Akrofoso, the Country Director of the organisation, Mr Kwabena Danso, encouraged the school children to adopt reading extensively, to improve on their academic performance, as well as broaden their outlook.
He called on educational authorities to intensify the culture of reading, particularly at the basic level.
Mr Danso assured that his organisation would continue to assist deprived communities with education facilities.
The District Chief Executive, Mr Samuel Asiamah, praised the organisation for complementing the government’s educational development effort.
