St. John’s Integrated Senior High/Technical School Appeal For Specialised Teachers
The St. John’s Integrated Senior High/Technical School in Navrongo, has appealed to the Ghana Education Service to post more special teachers to the school, to teach the hearing impaired students.
The headmistress, Mrs Gemma A. Kazaresam, who made the request at the school’s first Speech and Prize Giving Day at Navrongo, last weekend, emphasised the need to give school children with disabilities, the opportunity to develop their talents.
She again appealed to the Government, organisations and philanthropists to help the school with staff accommodation, computer laboratory, a library, an administrative block, a science laboratory, a dining hall, and have the school fenced.
Mr Kazaresam expressed worry about the lack of special teachers, which is impeding the teaching and learning of students with hearing problems.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Mark Woyongo, assured that the school would benefit from government projects earmarked for second cycle schools in the area.
Presently, a two-storey dormitory block and a 12-unit classroom block were under construction.
Mr. Woyongo advised Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to refrain from sexual promiscuity to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS.
He further entreated them to desist from alcoholism, prostitution, drug abuse and similar negative practices, but study hard to pass their examinations.
the Programme Manager for World Vision Ghana’s ‘Youth Alive’, Mr Conrad K. Balig, presented carpentry and masonry tools as well as 10 sewing machines, which cost about GH¢5,500 to the Technical Department of the school.
