The Atwima-Nwabiagya District assembly has presented 2,000 school uniforms ad quantities of exercise books to pupils of some of the deprived schools in the district.
The Communities included Ahwiaa, Akuapem, Bankyease, Ntabanu and Nyamesem.
Making the presentation, Nana Asare Bediako, the District Chief Executive, said it was in fulfilment of the government’s promise to provide free uniforms to school children in deprived communities.
“We should, as a matter of duty, nurture our school children to become responsible citizens, and not engage in armed robbery and other social vices”, he stated.
Nana Asare Bediako announced that arrangements had been finalised for work to begin on a health post at Bankyease, a school block at Akuapem and the completion of teachers quarters at Ahwiaa.
He was emphatic that the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’ would be achieved and advised Ghanaians to be patient for the government to deliver on its promises.
The DCE asked both parents and teachers to play their expected roles in ensuring that the nation produced not only educated and knowledgeable future leaders, but more importantly morally upright and responsible citizens.
Nana Asare Bediako, directed the District Directorate of Education to ensure that portraits of the President, are displayed in all public schools in the district with immediate effect.
He further directed that the national flag should be hoisted in all public schools in the district, to help instil the spirit of nationalism and patriotism in the school children.
