The Government has released GH¢12,695,399 and 1.8 million dollars to the scholarship Secretariat for payment of scholarship claims of students in and outside the country.
A press statement signed by Paul Kofi Krampah, Deputy Director and Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, said GH¢11,513,544 of the amount is feeding grant to cover the third term of the 2009/2010 academic year and the first term of 2010/2011 academic year for students of northern extraction.
A further GH¢1,881,855 has been released to cover bursaries, thesis and disability grant for post graduate students in tertiary institutions for the period of April to September 2010.
In addition, an amount of US$1,816,832 has been released as allowances for Ghanaian students on scholarship outside the country.
The statement said that with the release of the money, the government had fully settled all outstanding arrears due students both in and outside the country, for the 2009/2010 academic year.
