The Parent-Teacher Association of the Tamale Business Senior High School (BISCO) has given its backing to the school authority, to sanction students who flout school regulations.
This is to address the waywardness of the students, some of whom have gone to the extent of renting rooms outside the campus.
Addressing a PTA general meeting, the chairman, Alhaji Roland Abubakari Iddi, stressed that discipline is the key to ensuring good academic performance thus the association will do everything possible to assist the school’s administration to maintain it.
“Acts of truancy or insubordination on the part of students should not be countenanced by the authority,” he charged the staff.
Alhaji Iddi therefore admonished parents and guardians, to monitor their wards, pay them regular visits and study their terminal reports to know whether they are doing well or not.
“It‘s not just enough for us to be paying school fees without knowing how they fare on the campus,” he emphasised.
The headmaster, Mr. Saaka Bakari Awari, commended both the school’s Board of Governors and the PTA, for the untiring efforts and co-operation, which have aided the smooth running of the school.
He revealed that the PTA has been helping with the organization of extra classes for final year students, while construction of a fence wall also their initiative, is in progress.
Mr. Awari pledged that the administration’s resolve to work hard toimprove academic performance in the ensuing years.
He however appealed to government to provide additional infrastructure to overcome the congestions in both the classrooms and dormitories.
During the open forum, some parents called for the intensification of carrier guidance and counseling which they noted will help the students to choose courses and programmes of interest to them.
