Pupils of Cedec International School in Lagos, Nigeria, yesterday paid a visit to the New Times Corporation (NTC), publishers of the Ghanaian Times and Weekly Spectator to acquaint themselves with operations of the organisation.
They were led by the director of the school Madam Ijeomah P. Unachukwa and two other teachers.
Madam Unachukwa said the visit formed part of the annual summer tour organized by the school.
“Our school is an international school, so every year we organize tours for our students. This gives them the opportunity to learn about other countries. We take our students to places where they can learn.” she said.
The 16 pupils were taken through the Newrooms both the Ghanaian Times and the Weekly Spectator, the Art studio, the Computer studio and the printing press.
The News Editor of the Ghanaian Times, Mrs. Augustina Aforo Yeboah took the pupils through the processes of gathering news gathering and how the paper is finally produced.
The head girl’s prefect of the school, Miss Ogbonnaya Oluchi who expressed gratitude to the staff of NTC for patiently taking them through the activities of the organization also described them stay in the country as a pleasant one.
“We have been here for a short while but everyone we met is receptive” she said
The students who are staying in the country for one week have visited other tourist sites which include the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, Aburi Botanical Gardens, Elmina Castle and Sky TV.
They would also pay a courtesy call on the Nigerian High Commissioner and hold a leadership seminar.
