President Mills in a handshake with a member of the Castle staff
President John Evans Atta Mills yesterday interacted with a number of his staff at the Castle, and some of his key Ministers to kick-start official work for the new year.
As the first working day of the year in which the nation would hold its general elections, President Mills began the day with series of meetings on pertinent national issues with a few key Ministers, including Finance and Economic Planning Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffour, early in the morning.
Thereafter, he went round the various departments at the Castle to welcome the staff back to work and to motivate them to give of their best.
Interacting with a section of the staff, President Mills reminded them of the challenges ahead, but expressed optimism that the nation would overcome such challenges.
Wishing the staff good tidings for the new year, the President asked them to continue to support the work of the government.
The annual New Year interaction is the President’s way of building espirit de corps among the workers.
Being the last year his first four-year term, President Mills indicated his determination to ensure that Ghanaians enjoyed more gains from his Better Ghana agenda.
According to Koku Anyidoho, Director of Communications at the Presidency, President Mills was of the view that “leaders don’t have to lead from afar.
“He wants to lead from close range, for the staff to have the needed motivation,” he said.
