A police task force in the Fanteakwa District last Friday impounded a Hyundai bus with registration number GS 3340 Z, fully loaded with 32 large size sacks of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp (Wee) at Nsutapong Junction near Ahiamankyene in the Eastern Region.
Briefing the Times here, the Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwabena Gyamera-Yeboah said the task force comprising the police and civilians in the Fanteakwa District were on their usual patrol duties on the Begoro –Osiem road at about 2:00 am when they intercepted the Hyundai Grace bus with the 32 large size of Indian hemp at Nsutapong Junction near Ahiamankyene heading towards Somanya in the Yilo Krobo District.
He said the police signalled the driver and the two other occupants on board, but they failed to stop and sped off but when they were pursued they abandoned the vehicle and bolted into the bush.
The Commander said the police conveyed the vehicle and its contents to the police depot for further investigations.
