The Director of Kingsway International School, Mr. Emmanuel MacMawuli, at Ashaiman, has bemoaned parents’ poor attitude towards paying their wards’ school fees, as well as providing them with their educational materials.

He, therefore, called on parents to consider education as a bed rock of every nation’s development and take the education of their wards seriously to help build a strong nation for the future.

Addressing the school’s third graduation ceremony, on the theme: “Focusing on excellent educational standards; The role of stakeholders and parents” Mr. MacMawuli, also tasked parents to show love to their children by providing their educational needs, explaining that “children feel embarrassed whenever they are sent home for defaulting in the payment of fees and educational materials”.

In all, 45 pupils graduated were awarded with certificates.

Mr. MacMawuli appealed to philanthropists, non-governmental organisations and corporate institutions for support to help the school to provide quality education to the pupils.

The chairman for the occasion, Moses Bawa Adochim, challenged the school’s Parent-Teacher Association to establish an educational fund for brilliant but needy pupils who have no financial support to continue their education.

The beneficiaries would feel a sense of belonging and consequently give out their best when they grow up and attain higher positions, he intimated.

He stressed the need parents and teachers to see themselves as stakeholders whose varied contributions can make educational standards improve or retrogress.

Mr Adochim entreated parents to spend more time assisting their wards in doing their homework and visiting their schools to inquire of the children’s academic performance and mannerisms, “as children behave differently at school and in the home”.
