ABOUT 400 students to be admitted into the Zion Secondary School at Anloga this academic year will have no classrooms to attend classes.
This is because provision has not been made for any classroom accommodation for them.
The Headmaster, Theophilus T.K. Asravor, revealed this at a sod-cutting ceremony for a four-unit storey building for staff accommodation.
The project was funded by the old students of the school.
Mr. Asravor who is in his first year as head of the school said the 12-unit classroom complex being put up by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is at its foundation level and as such could not be used as an appropriate alternative.
He said they had to combine forms two and three General Arts One and Two and the Visual Arts one and two classes last year before they could get enough classroom to accommodate the first batch of the form four who completed last year.
This situation, Mr Asravor noted, was not conducive to teaching and learning, and called on the old students and other stakeholders to come to the aid of the school.
He said even though the school benefitted from a nine-classroom block last year, it was not enough.
Mr Asravor stated that the 74-year-old school had not seen much development, while the boarders had to eat in batches since the dinning hall could only accommodate only 600 students even at a time when the first year students were not yet in.
He explained that he had written to the Getfund for more assistance to help transform the school into a model one.
“The PTA is doing its best, the old students have also come, what is left now is for government to add its share so as to raise the school to its proper level.”
