After defying all the odds and going ahead to win the just-ended FA Cup, New Edubiase F/C has been presented with the opportunity to sweep the board at the tournament awards night scheduled for the State Banquet Hall this evening.
Right from best goal category through to the discovery, best defender, best goalkeeper, coach of the tournament, highest scoring club and the most prized award on the night - the most valuable player of the tournament, New Edubiase has a representation in there.
Although having representation in all these categories, players and coach of the Bekwai-based club will have some serious opposition to compete with on the night. Chief amongst them is AshantiGold Ivorian import Didier Florent Kore who will be going head-to-head with skipper Moro Ibrahim and defender Abeiku Ainooson for the most valuable player award.
Midfielders Ebenezer Ofori and Bernard Ofori will have to shrug off stiff challenge from Jordan Mintah of Wassaman Utd, Victor Ayire of Amidaus Professionals and Ashitey Ollenu of Accra Hearts Of Oak for the discovery of the tournament award.
Defender of the tournament category will have Abeiku Ainooson in there trying to outwit AshantiGold’s duo of Lawrence Lartey and Henry Enchil, while the goalkeeper of the tournament award will be a straight fight between Iddrisa Salia of Edubiase and Fatau Dauda of AshantiGold.
Having stopped coach Joachim Yaw Acheampong of AshantiGold from making history as the first man to win the FA cup as a player and a coach, coach Anthony Commey of Edubiase will be hoping to do a double over his opponent in the final match while Abu Yussif of Wassaman United and Hans Van de Pylum of Berekum Chelsea will also be hoping to cause a stir on the night.
Captain Moro Ibrahim will be gunning for the double on the night as his goal against Danbort FC will be vying for the best goal of the tournament together with Ishmael Obodai (King Solomon) in King Solomon Versus Zaytuna FC game, Hearts Of Oak’s Uriah Asante in the Hearts Of Oak versus Dunkwa Utd game, Godbless Asamoah of Wassaman United during the Wassaman United versus Tema Youth game and Prince Atakora Gyimah of Hearts Of Oak, during the AshantiGold Versus Hearts Of Oak clash.
Edubiase will also go head on for the highest scoring club of the tournament with and Tema Youth, while referee of the tournament will be fought between Joseph Lamptey, Samuel Suker and Charles Nii Tagoe with A.S Malik, Ben Vormawor and Kennedy Bentil contesting for the best assistant referee of the tournament.
For banging home six goals in five games, Danbort's Daniel Awuni, is to be crowned as the Goal King of a tournament in which his club got to the quarter finals stage.
