In its quest to continuously serve the general Ghanaian public, METRO TV has embarked on an expansion exercise to relay its signal further in the country by the end of this year.
What this means is that this year's Glo Premier League and other exciting programmes of the station will by enjoyed by fans countrywide.
The network already broadcast in all 10 regional capitals and has doubled its transmission power in Accra and Kumasi, and will now add six more Metropolis to its coverage.
Among the cities to benefit from the expansion includes Bawku in the Upper East region, Techiman in the Brong Ahafo region, Hohoe in the volta region, Obuasi in Ashanti, Tarkwa in Western and Nkawkaw in the Eastern regions respectively.
Seeking to position itself as the viewers & advertisers' choice of Free-to-air Television, Metro TV will strive to use its expanded & improved Broadcast platform for enhanced programme content, relevant to the corporate, business and Public taste alike, especially followers of the Glo Premier League.
A statement by the Chief Executive Officer of Metro TV, Mr Talal Fattal, remarked, “having achieved our target of urban and sub urban profile via our expanded broadcast platform, Metro TV had to complement that with premium Family Quality Entertainment content, and as such, we have acquired top notch TV programmes for our loyal viewers”.
The new programmes, mostly in the family entertainment genre, will be outdoored in October, adding that, the signal expansion exercise will be in two phases and will start with Nkawkaw, Obuasi and Tarkwa in phase one, whilst Phase two will cater for Techiman, Hohoe, Bawku, scheduled for completion by the end of 2011.
The decision to reach out to more cities, was duly informed by the various requests that Metro TV management constantly receives from the public, individuals and national institutions.
Mr. Fattal was hopeful that more soccer fans will get the chance to watch their teams in the Premier league and other sports competitions, be it local or international, as a result of the move which he secribed as a positive one for sports and entertainment especially.
Metro TV is also available on Channel 136 DSTVand can be accessed by satellite over Africa, Europe & the Middle East.
