A media launch preceding the May 2 – 5, 2012 in the Brong-Ahafo Regional Policy Fair in Sunyani under the theme ‘Building together in a better Ghana’, was held here on Monday.
Mr Fritz Baffour, Minister of Information, performing the launch, said the Policy Fair was in conformity with government’s commitment at ensuring that the grassroots benefited from the event, stressing that President Mills had repeatedly assured Ghanaians of his commitment to run an open, transparent and accountable governance system.
He said Ghanaians, particularly the grassroots, had been made part of the governance system through constant interactions, programmes and activities such as the Meet-the-Press Series and Town Hall Meetings, among others initiated under the auspices of the Ministry of Information for the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
The Policy Fair concept, according to the Minister, was a follow-up and addition to public participation and transparency in the administration of the country.
Mr. Baffour said the Brong Ahafo regional Fair would give the people opportunity to make direct assessment of the government’s delivery through the Ministries, Departments and Agencies and MMDAs.
The Fair, he said, would also create a conducive environment for dialogue between policy makers and implementers in the region.
The Information Minister said in order to make the event more interactive, there would be dialogue sessions at which participants would dissect and discuss important national developmental and pertinent issues relating to the region in particular and Ghana as a whole.
Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, said the Prof. Mills - led government had achieved a lot in all the sectors of the economy in the past three year in office and therefore urged people in the region to show interest and participate actively in the fair to ensure its success.
