A 42-YEAR-OLD man Abdul Aziz who said he sold a car sent to his workshop for upholstery as scrap for GH¢300 is in trouble with the law.
Aziz allegedly sold the vehicle after he realized that, the owner Sheihu Ahmed had passed on.
Aziz was arraigned before the Pokuase magistrate court, charged with stealing.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge but the presiding magistrate Mrs Abena Adjin Doku has remanded him into custody to appear again on July 20.
The prosecutor Chief Inspector Kofi Annan told the court that, the late Sheibu Ahmed gave his Toyota Carina Saloon car with registration number GR 333 L to Aziz somewhere in 2009 to do upholstery work in it.
He said Aziz failed to do the job and sold the car n hearing about the death of the owner.
The prosecutor said when all attempts to locate Aziz proved futile, a report was made to the police by the vehicle owner’s wife Farida Ahmed.
He said fortunately enough, Aziz was spotted at Abeka Lapaz on July 3, 2011, by Farida, and caused his arrest.
The prosecutor said Aziz told the police that, he had dismantle the vehicle and sold it to scrap dealers for GH¢350.
Aziz was also said to have told the police that, he cannot trace the scrap dealer who bought the car.
The prosecutor said Aziz was charged with the offence and arraigned before the court.
