Looking at the nominees in the second Edition of the Ghana Movie Awards (which is obviously better than the maiden edition), I won’t be surprised if Majid Michel and Jackie Appiah win the Best Actor in a leading role [English Language] and Best Actress in a leading role [English Language] respectively.
The different roles these two actors played in the movies “Somewhere In Africa” and “Reason To Kill” cannot be under-estimated.
I think Majid Michel will find his category very easy, looking at the challenging role he played in the movie (personally, I think that is the most challenging role he has played in his movie career,)
Though the female’s side will be a bit tough for Jackie, a poll conducted by NigeriaFilms.Com revealed that she could win that award, though she has strong competition from fellow actress Yvonne Okoro.
This year’s event looks well organised as the awards to have been spread to other nationals. You do not need to be a Ghanaian to be nominated; one is entitled for nominations if he or she features in a movie produced by a Ghanaian or from a Ghanaian production house.
The second edition of the awards ceremony which is aimed at honoring excellence in Ghana’s movie industry, is scheduled for tomorrow Christmas Day.
