The Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, has presented 240 laptop computers and their accessories, valued GH¢20,000 to 10 Junior High Schools in the constituency.
The beneficiary schools included Nyohini Presbyterian ‘A’and ‘B’ JHS, Nuriyya Islamic JHS, Builpela Assembly of God JHS, OLA, Vittin, Datooyili, Lamashegu and Dabokpaa Junior High Schools.
Each school received 24 computers.
Making the presentation on behalf of the MP, the Tamale South constituency secretary of the NDC, Mohammed Sulemana, said the donation were part of the MP’s efforts to promote the learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the basic schools.
He explained that ICT is now the driving force of the world, as such it is imperative that the future leaders are equipped with skills in it.
According to Mr. Sulemana it was the intention of the MP to team up with other stakeholders in the constituency, to improve teaching and learning in the basic schools in the constituency.
He advised the pupils to make good use of the facilities and pleaded with the teachers to dedicate themselves to their duties.
The headmaster of Presbyterian ‘A’ JHS, Mr. Kofi A. T Hagan, on behalf of his colleagues, thanked the minister of communication for the kind gesture and promised that they would be used for the intended purposes.
He appealed to the MP to stock their libraries to further improve the academic performances of the pupils.
