VARIOUS groups and corporate organizations, continue to donate to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to help alleviate the plight of victims of the recent floods that hit parts of the country.
The floods, caused by torrential rains, hit the Ashaiman Municipality, Agona Swedru, Tema, and parts of Accra leading to deaths and destruction to property.
Mr. Friday, Access Bank Ghana Limited, Ashfoam Ghana Limited and Vega foods donated relief items to NADMO for distribution the flood victims, some of whom are putting up in School’s buildings and other public buildings.
Access Bank gave 30 bags of rice, cooking oil, beddings and clothing worth over GH¢5,000, and Ashfoam donated from mattresses and pillows worth thousands of Ghana Cedis while Vega Foods presented quantities of tomato paste, bags of rice, milk, and cooking oil.
Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, Head of Corporate Communications at Access Bank Mr Emmanuel Dakey, Marketing Officer of Ashfoam and Mr. Selassie Mawuenyega, Marketing Manager of Vega Foods, presented the items.
The Interior Minister, Mr Martin Amidu who received the three separate donations on behalf of NADMO, said the government was doing all it could to meet the immediate needs of the affected victims in terms of food and clothing, but was happy that the three institutions had decided to extend their helping hand to them.
He urged other organizations to come to the aid of the unfortunate citizens who had been devastated by this natural disaster.
