The Government would from the next academic year supply text books to private schools, to enable them to play their expected roles in the provision of quality education for Ghanaian children.
The Awutu-Senya District Coordinator of Private Schools, Mrs Rose Abbiw, who announced this at a speech and prize giving day of the Good Shepherd International School at Awutu Ofankor, said the printing of the books had begun and distribution would start in earnest, to ease the problem of purchase of text books by parents.
“The government is committed to the supply of text books and would neither neglect nor discriminate against private schools,” she assured
Mrs Abbiw pointed out that the government would continue to improve education through private sector partnership and “we are all witnesses to the present trend of education which demands commitment from the various stakeholders including private school proprietors”.
“Private institutions must, therefore, continue to improve upon their services for the realisation of the mission,” she charged.
The Member of Parliament for the area, David Nana Larbie, assured the management of the school that everything possible would be done to obtain assistance from GETFund, to improve their infrastructure.
Prizes were awarded to deserving students, teachers and non teaching staff.
