Govt Distributes Computers To NHIS Offices In ER

The Government has distributed 108 computers and their accessories to all the 17 National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Eastern Region.

The computers worth over GH¢80,000 , were handed over by the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Ebenezer Terlarbi to the Eastern Regional Manager of the NHIS, Mr. .Windham Affram for distribution to the 17 schemes to enhance productivity.

The Deputy Regional Minster, Mr. Terlarbi said information technology has currently become the key to rapid socio-economic transformation, adding that the world is witnessing an unprecedented growth in all facets of national life due to the use of computers.

He said the use of computers would offer the officers vast and immeasurable opportunities to store information of people, who register with the scheme, analyse their data, and access information, among others.

‘It is my expectation that the provision of these computers, should lead to a major improvement in your delivery service and I expect practical signs of an improved scheme within a short period,’ he said.

He advised the regional scheme officers to properly manage the computers as well as put in place mechanisms for the prompt repairs, servicing and replacement of any defective parts by a competent mechanic.

‘The servicing of these computers by competent mechanics will ensure their continued and sustained use,’ he stated.

He also advised them to conduct themselves well in public adding that they should be honest, faithful and just and avoid acting in a manner that will go contrary to the objectives of the scheme.

‘You should try to be courteous and be prepared to help clients who seek your services,’ he advised.

He assured them of government’s commitment to improve the operations of the NHIS by providing them with the needed logistics.

The Eastern Regional Manager of the NHIS Mr. Afram who expressed his appreciation to the government said the computers would help to enhance the output of the scheme officers, increase productivity and facilitate the improvement of the scheme in the region.
