The Western Regional Minister, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, has inspected work on a GH˘140,065 six-unit classroom block project under construction at Borkorkope in the Shama District, as part of his familiarisation tour of some districts in the western Region.

The Chief and people commended the Regional Minister and the District Chief Executive, Miss Emetia Arthur for their commitment in ensuring that, the project they promised to construct for the community, has reached the lintel level.

The joy of the Borkorkope community was based on the fact that their children and wards would soon leave their thatched six-classroom block to occupy a congenial one which in addition, has a staff common room and library.

Mr. Aidoo said “in September 2009, when I visited the area, as part of the “My First Day at School” programme, I was touched by the deplorable conditions of the school; hence the promise to ensure that, a new block was constructed”.

He thanked the chief, the Member of Parliament and DCE, and pledged to ensure that the project, which was being financed through the GETFund, was completed and inaugurated for use by the children in the locality.

The chief of Borkorkope, Torgbui Issa Nam, was happy that the project had reached an appreciable stage and called for its early completion.

He appealed to the Regional Minister to ensure that the road to the Solupeme community, which is a catchment area for the school, was in good shape, to enable the children there to access the school.

Ms. Arthur said the Assembly was undertaking a number of educational infrastructural projects to enhance and improve quality education delivery in the district.

These included the construction of a GH˘111,471 three-unit classroom block at the Abuesi, a GH˘152,535 six-unit classroom block for the Aboade Catholic Primary School, (GH˘136,107) six classroom block at Beposo, a GH˘124,826 classroom block at Atta-Ne-Atta and Bosomdoa, respectively.
