THE Ministry of Health has reduced this year’s number of student enrolment into the Public Health Training Institutions in the country.
In 2009/2010 academic year, 9,804 students were admitted by the Ministry into Public Health Training Institutions.
However, the Ministry is looking forward to enrolling a total number of 8,667 students in the 2010/2011 academic year.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Tony Goodman, in an interview with the Times said the reduction in the number of student enrolment would help enhance quality and effective training of nurses for the country.
Concerns about pressure on training facilities, he said, had been raised in the previous year and the less intake of students was an attempt to improve the situation.
He used the opportunity to assure the Public of a stress-free enrollment for the 2010/2011 academic year.
He cautioned parents and students not to purchase forms from private individuals but consult the various training schools for one.
The forms could also be downloaded with a scratch card via www.mohtiadmissions.edu.gh
Closing date for the purchase and submission of forms is 30th May 2010.
