The Effutu Municipal Assembly has, within the past 18 months, built seven new school buildings to replace the dilapidated ones in the municipality.
The projects estimated at several thousands of cedis, were financed by the GETFund and District Assembly’s Common Fund. The buildings have since been handed over to the respective schools for use.
The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Ephraim, announced this on Tuesday, during separate sod-cutting ceremonies for the commencement of six new projects estimated at GH˘783,957.52 in the Municipality.
The new projects, to be funded by the GETFund and the Community-Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP), include four 6-unit classroom blocks with staff common room, office and toilet facilities, at the Methodist Primary C and B and AME Zion.
The rest are a semi detached staff accommodation for the Atekyedo Municipal Primary and the tarring of a 3.77 Kilometre road from Winneba Junction to Winneba township.
Nii Ephraim told the gathering that the projects formed part of the campaign promised by President John Atta Mills and the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr. Mike Hammah, to construct school building for them.
He charged the contractors to be committed to ensure the completion of the projects on schedule, and urged the communities to offer the needed assistance to the contractors.
The Odikro of Atekyedo, Nana Amponsah Atta IV, said he and his elders had put aside 40 plots for the development of the town.
