The Effutu Municipal Assembly has presented 440 dual desk and furniture worth GH¢272,000 to the Municipal Directorate of Education for distribution to six schools in the municipality.
The beneficiary schools are Atietu/Osbonpanyne Junior High School (JSS), Okonfuadea JHS, Unipra JHS, Municipal Assembly JHS, Municipal Assembly Primary “C” and Methodist Primary, all in Winneba.
Some other schools in municipality also benefitted from the items, including 48 conference chairs and six conference tables, 18 teachers’ tables and chairs, six head-teachers chairs and tables.
Nii Ephraim, Municipal Chief Executive, who presented the items, said it was meant to promote teaching and learning in the schools, and urged the teachers to give of their best to supplement government effort to improve education.
He advised parents to take advantage of the free supply of schools uniforms, text books, the Capitation Grant and the School Feeding programme to send their children to school.
Mrs Elizabeth Enimil, Municipal Director of Education, thanked the Assembly for the gesture and promised to ensure fair distribution of the desks to needy schools.
