The Effutu Municipal Assembly has handed over a three-Unit-Classroom block with offices, storerooms and toilet facilities valued at GH˘41,000 to the Municipal Education Directorate at Effutu Ateitu.

The building, constructed by the Assembly, would be used by Junior High School pupils from Effutu Ateitu, Osubonpanyin and Akroful communities.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Ephraim, who handed over the keys of the building to Mrs Elizabeth Amoah Enimil, the Education Director, said the project was among four others that the Assembly awarded on contract last year to reduce accommodation problems in the area.

Nii Ephraim entreated parents to invest more in their children’s education, saying that the government considered education as the key to development and would continue to invest greater percentage of the resources in the sector.

Mrs Enimil thanked the government and the Assembly for the provision of the school building and hoped that the children would reciprocate the gesture by learning hard and also attend school regularly.

She said the GES would ensure regular maintenance of the building to prolong its life-span and appealed to the Assembly to connect the school to the national electrification grid to enable the students to learn Information Communication Technology (ICT) which had been added to their examination subjects.

Neenyi Obosu II, chief of Ateitu, expressed gratitude to the Assembly and the GES for the construction of the building for the children who were formerly holding classes under an open shed.

He promised to release more lands for future construction of Senior High School, ICT center and other educational facilities at the area.
