The Paramount Chief of Breman Asikuma Traditional, Odeefo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, has called on the public to recognize education as key to national development.
Odeefo Buadu who is also president of Breman Asikuma Traditional Council, made the call at the inauguration of Christian Nurses Training School at Breman Asikuma. The theme for the occasion was: Delivering Quality Health Care: The role of the private sector.
He commended the sponsors of the school for their contribution towards the promotion of higher education in the area, and appealed to the young girls to take advantage of the school, to facilitate their educational pursuit.
Mrs. Yvonne Hayfron, member of the Ghana Midwives and Nurses Council, said health care delivery in the country should not be the duty of the government alone.
She notes that a number of medical facilities in the country tacked the human resource base to cater for the increasing number of patients, and said the establishment of the Nurses Training School would help save the situation.
She advised the school authorities to carry out research in order to turn out quality nurses.
Mrs. Paulina Essuman, president of the school, said the academic facility which opened this month would offer certificates in Community Health Nursing, Health Assistant Clinical and Diploma in General Nursing, adding that the students would undertake practical’s at the local Our Lady of Grace Hospital.
