The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Peter Augustine Blay, has commended retiring Senior Officers of the Ghana Armed Forces for their dedication and commitment to the Armed Forces.

The CDS said this at a farewell ceremony to see off 15 retiring senior officers at Burman camp.

“Permit me to add that we are seeing off gallant senior Officers whose contribution to the welfare and professionalism of our noble profession has been enormous.” he said.

The retiring senior officers are made up of Brigadier-Generals G.K. Adjei, J.K.Forkuo, T. Allotey, J.K. Nkrumah, J.C.A Searyoh and A.A. Apogan-Yella.

The rest are Air Commodores R.G.M. Acquah and A.A. Awusima, Colenels M.D. Boampong, E.A. Mensah, I. Salifu and S. Agyekum Yamoah.

Others are Captain (Ghana Navy) F.K. Eshun, Group Captain E.K, Boateng and Group Captain R.A. Nkoah.
At a well attended ceremony, the CDS said every one of the retiring senior officers had accounted for themselves honourably whilst in the Ghana Armed forces.

Challenging them to continue to be part of the military family, the CDS said “although you may be retiring from active service, it is our hope and belief that you will continue to make available your invaluable knowledge and experience to the Ghana Armed Forces should you be called upon to do so.”

Expressing their appreciation to the Military High command for the gifts given each retiring officer, Brigadier-General J.K. Nkrumah, on behalf of his other colleagues, thanked everybody, especially the CDS and the Service chiefs for the honour done them and assured that they will continue to share their experiences with the Ghana Armed Forces anytime they were called upon.

Welcoming the retiring senior officers into the retired commissioned officers fold, Brigadier General Brock (rtd) the President of the Retired commissioned Officers Clun, outlined the programmes and activities of the Club to them.
He encouraged them to be active members of the Club.


Present at the ceremony were Service chiefs, the Commissioner of the Customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Major-General Carl Modey, the chief Fire Officer, Brigadier-General J. B. Guyiri, the President of the Retired Commission Officers Club, Brigadier General Brock (rtd), Formation Commanders, Directors General and other senior military officers.
