Catholic Secretariat Launches "Star Partnership Project on Education"
The National Catholic Secretariat has launched its "Star Partnership Project on Education", to deepen and strengthen the collaboration between the State and the Church on the improvement of education in Ghana.
The partnership framework would ensure that the Church is involved in consulted on all policies change in the education sector.
The launch, which took place in Koforidua last Thursday, was on the theme: “Government and Church partnership towards enhancing education delivery and governance”.
Regional Managers of Catholic Education Units across the country, Diocesan Development Officers, Diocesan Bishops and all who matter in education in the Catholic Church, attended it.
The Executive Secretary of the Department of Human Development of the National Catholic Secretariat, Mr Samuel Zan-Akologo, disclosed that since 1999, the Catholic Bishops Conference, had taken serious steps to influence governments to review their partnership in education, culminating in a joint committee drafting a new document on the management of mission schools, for the consideration of government.
According to him, the report was submitted to government in 2008 but sadly enough, it has not been sanctioned by government till today.
Mr Zan-Akologo said the Catholic Church believes that collaboration with the State, should be done within a framework which focuses on solving the problem in the education sector.
