Boy, 4, Found Dead In A Refrigerator

Two people have been arrested by the Dansoman Police for their alleged murder of a –four- year- old boy who was found dead in a disused deep freezer at Shiabu near Dansoman involvement in Accra.

The father, Emmanuel Dwamena Snr, who is a 40 -year old taxi driver, and the grandmother, Grace Quansah, are being held for their alleged negligence and murder because they failed to inform the police that the boy was missing for three days.

On the third day, the child, Emmanuel Dwamena Jr, was said to have been found in a disused deep freezer in their home at Shiabu, near Dansoman in a supine position with marks on his hands.

The Divisional Commander of the Dansoman Station, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manly Awuni, told the Times that on January 7, Grace reported to the police that her grandson had been found dead in a disused deep freezer.

He said police went to the scene and found the boy dead with bruises on his wrist.

He said the police suspect the deceased’s mother, Pricilla Sackeyfio, 33 mentally challenged, might have put the boy in the deep freezer.

He said investigations revealed that the boy got missing but it was not reported to the police
The commander said Dwamena Snr. claimed his wife (Pricilla) called him on phone on January 5 and informed him that the boy’s grandmother (Grace), had tied the deceased’s hands and put him in a deep freezer.

He said, according to Dwamena, he went to the house but could not find the boy.
The commander said Pricilla is currently at the Accra psychiatric hospital while the body had been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
