The Asokwa police have placed Mr. Tony Nyame, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima-Kwanwoma, under investigation for allegedly assaulting his houseboy.

He is said to have accused the houseboy, Anthony Kwasi Owusu, of stealing his “valuables”.

But the house boy denied the accusation and instead claimed that Mr. Nyame was angry with him because he saw him naked and reciting some incantations while burying a cat in the house at night.

According to Owusu, the DCE performed the ritual on Saturday, prior to the parliamentary primaries to win the election.

But the DCE said the boy was lying, insisting that he stole his “valuable items” including salt, meat, tooth paste (pepsodent) and coconut.

Speaking to the Times, a police source said Owusu reported the case to the police and on Sunday, he was given a medical form to attend hospital.

The source declined to give further details, saying that the case was being investigated. But while the investigation was going on, Mr. Nyame
and Owusu clashed on the local FOX fm radio station yesterday, in a hot argument.

So heated was the argument that Mr. Nyame at one point, accused the host, Nana Captain Smart, of being bias.

As tempers flared, the DCE had to be whisked away from the studio.

Owusu had insisted during the radio programme that he bumped into the naked DCE at midnight as he was burying a cat in the house and chanting incantations.

According to him, moments later, four boys stormed the house and smashed the roofing of his room and asked him to vacate the room.

“I started packing my belongings when Mr. Nyame came into the room to demand that I pay the electricity bill before he would allow me to leave,” Owusu said.

He also alleged that in the course of the verbal exchanges, the DCE and the four boys beat him up and dragged him out of the room.

In denying Owusu’s allegations, Mr. Nyame said the cat was killed by his dog and he buried it in the house in the afternoon and not at midnight.

He said it was not the first time that he had buried a cat killed by the dog in the house.

He denied assaulting the houseboy, but said he knew two of the boys who allegedly beat him up.

He, however, admitted asking Owusu to vacate the room because of rumours that he (houseboy) wanted to kill him.

The DCE also said he asked Owusu to pay the electricity bill because it was one of the conditions under which he was given the room.
