Bibiani Court Remands 5 Suspected Robbers

A Bibiani Circuit Court has remanded in prison custody, five suspected armed robbers who were arrested while on areca mission at Bibiani last Friday.

The five suspects, and their leader, Burger, who is on the run, were said to have gone on a survey of some parts of Sefwi-Bekwai in Bibiani ahead of a planned night operation, but they were arrested while they relaxing in their car in a thick bush.

Their pleas were not taken and the court, presided over by Justice Emmanuel Ankamah, remanded them in prison custody for two weeks

They were named as Emmanuel Oduro, 38; William Atta, 35; Owusu Ampabeng,31; Kwakye Kye,25 and Jafaru Boakye, 24.

Superintendent Francis Enor, Bibiani District Police Commander who confirmed this to the Times, and said the suspects were relaxing in an unregistered BMW saloon car in a thick bush at Dominebo Number One Village, near Bibiani.

The police source said as the patrol team was returning from Sefwi-Bekwai, they saw one of the suspects hovering around the car in the bush.

Suspicious, he said, the police went closer and the one hovering around (Burger), on seeing them took to his heels, but before the rest could get out of the car to escape, they were surrounded by the police and arrested.

A search of the car, revealed nine mobile telephones, two pistols, two cutlasses a long nylon rope, live ammunition and a toy gun.
