Safe Child Ghana, an NGO dedicated to the
safety of children, has presented a computer and books worth GH˘2,500 to the Ashiaman Number 1 ‘A’ Primary School for winning the primary schools safety competition.

The books about 150, included 100 supplementary readings.

Mrs Eunice Gifty Baabu, founder of the NGO, commended the school authorities for putting safety measures in place to protect life and property in the school.

She explained that among 20 schools surveyed at Tema, Ashaiman, Sowutuom and Amasaman, the Ashaiman Number 1 ‘A’ emerged the best school which had implemented safety measures to prevent electrocution and other accidents by pupils.

She said the survey was to assess a safety campaign launched last year to raise schools awareness of safety measures.

Mrs Baabu said Safe Child Ghana would continue to educate children to prevent accidents, adding that it had launched a two-week ‘Fire and Electrical Safety’ campaign, in collaboration with the Electricity Company of Ghana, Volta River Authority and Sena FM.

Numo Addison Adinortey, Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive, appealed to other organisations and NGOs to emulate the good example of Safe Child Ghana by assisting needy schools.
