Asantehene Advocates Aggressive Push Towards Girl-Child Education.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, has underlined the need for a more aggressive push towards girl-child education.
         
“It is important for all to join in the efforts at making the school environment friendly for the girl-child, and as such, everything should be done to provide adequate infrastructure, particularly in girls schools, and incentive packages, to motivate them to pursue their academic careers,” he admonished.
         
Otumfuo Osei Tutu expressed this sentiment when the Board of Governors of the Afia Kobi Serwaah Ampem Girls Senior High School paid a courtesy call on him, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, to officially introduce the newly appointed headmistress, Ms Esuande Fameye Eshun, to him.
  
The Asantehene said it should not be lost on anybody that, women’s empowerment through education would significantly aid the fight to reduce poverty, and quicken the pace of the nation’s socio-economic development.      
    
Otumfuo Osei Tutu pledged his unwavering determination to support educational development in the country.
    
He praised the management and board of the school for the good job being done and urged the headmistress to work hard to sustain the high academic performance of the school.
   
Nana Gyamfi Nantwi, spokesperson for the board, lauded the Asantehene for assisting to have facilities in the school upgraded.
