The All Nations University College in Koforidua is to introduce a programme in Space Science and Satellite Technology, the president, Dr. Samuel H. Donkor, has announced.
Addressing a workshop to sensitise the students on space science technology in Koforidua, he advised them to apply themselves to the sciences to enable the nation take up its place in terms of science and technology in Africa.
It was also to whip up the interest of the students to research into it, as well as take the initiative to launch into the new system which most countries are benefiting immensely.
The Director of the Space Science and Technology Centre, Ghana, Dr. (Mrs) Nana Ama Browne Klutse, noted that the nation has the potential of becoming the first to develop and launch its own satellite on the continent.
‘We have what it takes to develop and launch our own satellite in Ghana because we have the resource, the technology and the brains to succeed’, she said.
Dr.Ama Klutse spoke extensively on the benefits of space satellite and said Ghana had the chance of gaining a lot from it if the government laid much emphasis on the sciences and technology from the basic school level.
