An American Philanthropist, Ms. Christiana Adcock, and her sons have donated an ambulance and medical equipment for a hospital complex they built last year for the Church of Christ at Wassa Atieku in the Western Region.

The hospital project cost $200 million while the ambulance and equipment cost $200,000.

Making the presentation to the church at Ateiku, Ms. Adcock expressed the hope that the provision of the facility would go a long way to address some of the health needs of the people of Ateiku and its surrounding communities.

She said it was her personal goal and that of the hospital administration to set the highest standards of quality health care delivery at the hospital.

“This is just our first step and it is my hope and prayer that one day, the hospital will be upgraded as a teaching hospital to train medical doctors, nurses and dentists from around the globe,” she said.

Ms Adcock thanked the team made up of Ms Jannelle More, Ms Farroh Derebery and Mr. Bill Jannelle who accompanied her from the USA to Wassa Ateiku to deliver the items.

Dr. Kweku Odum, a retired Urologist, who is the medical officer in charge, received the items on behalf of the hospital and expressed gratitude to the donors.

He called on the people of Ateiku to patronize the hospital.

Rev. Lawrence Oduro, Chief Executive of the church, commended Ms Adcock and her sons for the gesture and said it was the aim of the church to make the hospital one of the best in the country, and advised the hospital staff to be courteous to patients.

He also advised the management of the hospital to ensure regular maintenance of the hospital to ensure its life span. – GNA
