American Foreign Policy And You (2)

When Bill Clinton succeeded George W.H. Bush in the White House, America wanted to invade Iraq again. But the new hardworking Secretary-General of the U.N., Kofi Annan, went to Iraq with lightening speed and returned to New York with the tension diffused.

The rapturous “Akwaaba” with which a euphoric UN staff celebrated his return in front of the UN Secretariat, milling around him, jumping and throwing their arms in the air, was indicative of their affection for him, especially for his skill.

Then came George W. Bush, the son of the first Bush. To get the oil, he shamefully concocted a theory that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and had it “proved” in a belaboured fashion in the General Assembly, using fake computer projections purporting to show how Hussein moved his weapons from place to place to avoid detection.

And he wanted the U.N. Secretary-General to sanction a war. But level-headed Kofi Annan refused as the world body was formed from the ashes of WWII just to avoid such wars. When U.N. investigations proved otherwise, junior Bush said he would go to Iraq with or without the U.N.!

George W. Bush became a thorn in the flesh of Kofi Annan with so much disrespect. He ignored him completely, drawing the ire of Nelson Mandela, who blasted Bush, saying Bush was disrespectful because the Secretary General was an African. True. A newspaper in New Zealand blatantly stated that they would never comply with UN directives because the Secretary General was black.

Later, several Iraqis were killed and soon the oil was on its way to America. Had it been senior Bush who went to Iraq, he would probably have handled Saddam Hussein the same way he treated Manuel Noriega of Panama – put him in jail illegally for the rest of his life, with no one uttering a word. Yes, might is right indeed!

When senior Bush invaded Panama in 1989, he arrested Noriega and jailed him for 20 good years. After 20 years, Noriega in his early 70’s, was still healthy. So, just as America arranged with France in 1804 to help make Haiti very poor for being the first black nation ever to attain independence in the world, America sent Noriega to Paris for him to be jailed for another 10 years.

However, at 77, Noriega’s health started to fail.

Not interested in him anymore, on December 11, 2011, France flew him back to the right wing regime that senior Bush installed in Panama when he removed Noriega from power, to be jailed over his convictions in absentia for murder, corruption and embezzlement while he led Panama from 1983-89.

With regard to American Foreign Policy (AFP), senior Bush seems more compassionate than junior Bush. I wonder what Jeb Bush (the other son) would do should he land in the White House, being the next line in the Bush dynasty.

And but for his senior brother’s abysmal performance in the White House, the former governor of the state of Florida, who single-handedly put George W. Bush in the White House in the 2000 US elections, would have started making waves for the presidency already, as a total of 20 years in the White House do not seem enough for the dynasty.

Muammar Kaddafi enabled Libya to hold its own for 42 years. Under his rule, Libya never borrowed a penny from the World Bank.

The West did not like that because the situation did not give the World Bank and the IMF the right to manipulate Libya’s economy. He is now terminated after NATO forces terrorized and killed many Libyans under a U.N. mandate to go and “save” lives, a ruse.

Watch out for the chaos that will descend on Libya and where the oil will go!

On December 8, 2011, some American politicians condemned Obama, saying his foreign policy was based on appeasement, a taboo.

Knowing that this could cause him to lose re-election a year later, Obama quickly denied it, pointing out “I have just killed Osama bin Laden.”

Ha-ha! This is the “African” who, for doing nothing, won the Nobel Prize for peace barely a year after taking over from George W. Bush, who had left the White House in shame after taking on Afghanistan in a war America can never win, and causing a global recession.

American foreign policy is so effective and efficient because America is able to gather a wealth of valuable and often precise information about other nations through the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to enable them plan well before springing into action, making the CIA a prominent and eminent part of AFP.

CIA operations follow the same recurring script. First, American business interests abroad are threatened by a popular or democratically elected leader.

The people support their leader because he intends to conduct land reform, strengthen unions, redistribute wealth, nationalize foreign-owned industry, and regulate business to protect workers, consumers and the environment. (I see Mugabe here).

So, on behalf of American business, and often with their help, the CIA mobilizes the opposition in the target country. First, it identifies right-wing groups within the country (usually the military), and offers them a deal: “We’ll put you in power if you maintain a favourable business climate for us.” The Agency then hires, trains and works with them to overthrow the existing nationalist government.

It uses every trick in the book: propaganda, stuffed ballot boxes, purchased elections, extortion, blackmail, sexual intrigue, false stories about opponents in the local media written by the people themselves, infiltration and disruption of opposing political parties, kidnapping, beating, torture, intimidation, economic sabotage, death squads and even assassination.

These efforts culminate in a military coup, which installs a puppet right-wing dictator. The CIA trains the dictator’s security apparatus and cracks down on the traditional enemies of big business, using interrogation, torture and murder.

Any good big economic news coming out of Africa, the CIA does not want to hear it. All that they are interested in is poverty, wars, famine … all the negative news. For instance, Gatwick Airport in London is now owned by an African.

Gatwick is the second biggest and busiest airport in the U.K. To be owned by an African is good, big economic news for Africa. But the CIA and all the powerful Western media are deliberately silent on it.

Not even the BBC carried such a big scoop on Africa coming out of London! Adebayo Ogunlesi of Nigeria is now the proud owner of Gatwick airport in London! He bought it for 1.51 billion pounds sterling in October 2009. (To be continued).
