The unflinching commitment of Alisa Hotel towards promoting lesser known sports in the country was again witnessed last Friday when the plush hotel organised the sixth edition of its annual Alisa Invitational Tennis Tournament at the Alisa Tennis Court.

Participants at the tournament included Alisa Tennis club members and corporate clients of the hotel from the banking sector including Standard Chartered Bank, Agric Development Bank (ADB), ECOBANK, among others.

Also present at the tournament were the former deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Joe Aggrey, as well as the owner of Alisa Hotel and a renowned sports administrator, Mr. Kwame Ofosu-Bamfo, aka Sikkens.

Amidst the speculative cheer from the animated home crowd including staff and executive members of the hotel, the pair of Capso Brew and Joe Paddymo from the Alisa Tennis Club beat the Standchart Club’s pair of Louis Addo and Asafo Adjei 6-2 to win the men’s doubles title.

The home team, however, lost narrowly to Standchart in the singles title when Louis Addo of Standchart defeated Dakmak Taha (alias Yala) of Alisa club 6-4.

Addo was trailing behind Taha after the fifth game but broke his opponents serve in the ninth game to take a 5-4 lead. He went ahead to win the final decisive match, ending the game 6-4.

Throwing more light on the tournament, Mr. Thom Sheriff, General Manager of Alisa Hotel said the occasion accorded Management an opportunity to interact with their clients to deliver best of services and at the same time exercising for energy to continue being in business.

He expressed the resolve by owners and management of the facility to use this platform to promote tennis in the country and share the excitement accorded to football for this sporting event.
