The police on Wednesday morning, arrested 81 persons at Akoepe, near Ho in the Volta Region, in connection with the alleged kidnapping of Joe Osei, an 11-year-old boy.
Nine other persons suspected to be linked to the alleged crime, and who attacked Mr. Kofi Osei, a farmer, and his wife, parents of Joe Osei, were arrested earlier on Tuesday.
Mr. Alex Bedie, Volta Regional Police Commander, told journalists at Ho, that last Saturday, August 11, a mob of about 100 marched to Kofi Osei’s farm at Akoepe, and attacked him and his wife for allegedly using juju to killa resident, Emmanuel Dike Sokro.
The mob also ransacked Mr. Osei’s room and set it ablaze.
Mr. Osei and his wife managed to escape, living behind their son, Joe Osei, who went missing soon after the attack. The mob also stole GH¢1,500 from their room.
The Police Commander said Mr Osei, who is a settler farmer from Zabzugu-Tatale in the Northern region, had cultivated a large track of land and was expected to harvest about 15,000 pieces of yam when he was attacked and the entire farm destroyed.
The police, he said, would investigate the matter and make efforts to find Joe Osei.
He called for the assistance of the public to locate the boy.
