The New Juaben Municipality Education Directorate has registered a total of 2,753 candidates from 83 public and private basic schools for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) slated for April.
From 55 public and 28 private junior high schools, the candidates are made up of 1,379 males and 1,374 females.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mr Augustus Nii Lante Cleland, told the GNA that the municipality had joined 48 other districts to write a district-wide mock examination, whose results, it is believed, would show the preparedness of the children towards the final examination, as well as build their confidence towards it.
The pupils are expected to write papers in English Language, Social Studies, Integrated Science, Mathematics and Basic Design and Technology.
The other subjects are Religious and Moral Education, Ghanaian Language, French (optional) and Information and Communication Technology.
Mr Cleland advised all pupils to be serious with their books, especially as they prepare for their papers and also urged them to avoid examination malpractices.
