Prepare Well For Your Examinations - WAEC Head

The Head of National Office of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), Mrs Patience G.A. Ayesu, has advised the final year pupils of the Osu Doku Circuit Schools to prepare well for the impending BECE examinations.

They should also make sure that they do not take any foreign material into the Examination Hall.

She said, a well prepared pupil will not panic when getting to the Exams Hall.

Mr Ayesu said this in Accra at the Basic School Monitoring programme under the theme; Ensuring Successful Basic Certificate Examination.

She noted that examination plays a crucial role in the delivery of quality education and creation of jobs in the school curriculum.

She expressed concern about examination malpractices among candidates and stressed that it takes a valid and reliable assessment to conduct a successful examination.

"Developing the appropriate forms of assessment for same subjects are the challenges being tackled by WAEC", she added.

She pointed out that a pupil preparing adequately for the exams will not take any foreign material into the hall.

Mrs Ayesu stressed that inadequate preparation for examinations was a major cause of candidates' poor performance in their final exams.

“A thorough preparation is one key to successful test taking” she stated.

The Board Member of Insight Foundation Ghana (IFG), Mrs Thomasia Brown, called on parents to be watch dogs over their children’s education.

"For they are the future leaders of their country and their contribution will help in the development of this nation."

She commended teachers for their efforts and urged them to continue with their meritorious contributions to the society.

Mrs Brown advised pupils to be responsible to their parents by doing their house chores and taking their studies seriously.

She said IFG has made it its mandate to facilitate the provision of educational support so as to have a full integration and thus contribute to the development of the nation.

"To enhance academic performance at the BECE level in public schools, it needs the collaboration of parents and teachers", she stressed.
